STÅ [Danish; ‘stand’ or ‘stand up’] is a balancing, standing hairdryer.
The design is a study in manufacturing processes, prototyping, and product engineering, and began with the disassembly and analysis of an existing hairdryer. Modeled in SolidWorks and 3D printed, with heater and fan from the existing hairdyer mounted inside, STÅ is a working prototype.
The balancing design provides STÅ with a light and playful aesthetic, as well a convenient way for users to put the hairdryer away during styling and for storage.
