TVIST is designed as a study in wood-working, materials, and processes. The design is initially developed though sketching, but the design details that become defining for the overall aesthetic are finalized while working hands-on with the materials. 14 pieces of solid oak come together in a subtle, twisting pattern to form the seat; the legs are mounted in a compound angle, creating the illusion of a twisting motion as you move around the stool. This way of feeling the materials, looking at the parts as they come together, judging and adjusting dynamically throughout the entire process, is what ensures coherency in the final design.
